Focal Fat Reduction/Body Contouring

While the EMERALD LASER beams can be directed to almost any area of the body, the areas most frequently treated to re-contour the body and lose inches in order are:
  • 1. Abdomen – mid-tummy bulges and “love handles”
  • 2. Hips, lower abdomen and buttocks
  • 3. Thighs
  • 4. Upper arms
  • 5. Upper neck and chin
  • 6. Male breast enlargement (called “gynecomastia”)

Contouring Q’s & A’s

Is the reduction in circumference permanent?

It can be!!! But a lot depends on you!* Remember, most likely you are genetically programmed to accumulate fat in the treated areas. Regular exercise and avoiding a high carbohydrate/sugar diet will maximize your prospects for a good long term result. Ask your therapist for specific dietary and exercise recommendations.

So what happens to this liberated fat?

Much of it flows to the liver where it is either (1) metabolized for energy, or (2) excreted in the bile and eliminated from the body. Some of it undoubtedly is (3) metabolized by other tissues, particularly muscle, and some is (4) re-deposited in fat cells. But, importantly, only a small percentage will end up back in the area of treatment.
Result: A reduction in circumference of the treated areas of the body with a slimmer, smoother body contour!

Can I be certain the the LASER will work for me?

Of course, individual responses to LLL treatment may vary, but most patients will see a noticeable change.* Gentle walking exercise, maintaining hydration and following the dietary recommendations of your therapist can increase your likelihood of a good response.

So what happens to the treated fat cells?

The treated fat cells are not permanently damaged or killed by the EMERALD LASER! The tiny pores in each cell actually heal and the cells survive, although their size is markedly reduced. Since there is no cell death, there is no potential for the complications that are sometimes seen with high energy ultrasound, radiofrequency or freezing techniques:
  • 1) a painful and unsightly inflammatory reaction in the treated area, or
  • 2) cell death, which can result in scarring or an irregular bumpy surface

Is the reduction in circumference permanent?

At first look at pictures below I thought they were too large. After a few additional views, I’m not so sure. What do you think? It can be!!!
